Maternal and child health in the WHO Western Pacific Region
Description
A nurse in Hong Kong - Betty Alt started to help the government in its maternal and child health programme in 1954.
"I alternate between two health centres, trying to share with my fellow workers of the local health services my experience and knowledge in order that we may be able to demonstrate and teach to an over-growing number of mothers the modern methods of maternal and child care within the resources of Hong Kong and suitable to its cultural background. This is the ward of the Maureen Grantham Health Centre. A mother is changing the diaper of her baby."
At the ante-natal clinic she was shown modern methods of self and child care with the help of filmstrips.
