Maternal and child health in the WHO Western Pacific Region
Description
A nurse in Hong Kong - Betty Alt started to help the government in its maternal and child health programme in 1954.
"Often, before I give a lecture, I go to one of the local markets to learn first-hand the prices of vegetables and fruits and other foods so that I can recommend with understanding what the women should buy with their limited food budget. This Hong Kong mother selling fruit - note the baby happily sleeping on her back - is a regular visitor at one of my clinics."
