Description
Trying out a new insecticide against malaria - In Kankiya District, Northern Nigeria, the homes of some 25-30,000 people were experimentally sprayed with a carefully-selected new insecticide, to see whether malaria transmission could be stopped. Kankiya lies in a "tough" savannah area, where the older insecticides would not work efficiently. The experiments were conducted by a WHO field research team, and the field-testing of one new insecticide was expected to take at least two years.
