Historical collection: Breastfeeding
Description
The Syrian "Dayat", Mme Marie Derani was the Head Nurse-Midwife at the WHO-assisted Rural Health Center in Sakba, near Damascus, Syria. Some 50 patients (mothers and children) came to the Center every day. The Center also provided a six months course to teach local "dayats" (midwives) modern methods.
A health child, a sure future. Safe child birth: Infant and maternal mortality can be substantially reduced by ensuring that birth takes place in a disease-free environment, and the infant and mother receive proper care before and after delivery
