Description
Atemisinin-derivative drugs to combat malaria are now being developed. Artemisinin is the active constituent of Artemisia annua, a plant used for centuries in China to combat fever. A. annua is found in many parts of the world, although the plants are of various potency. Plants are currently being widely cultivated for experimentation. This plant originated in Yugoslavia and is being grown at the Swiss Federal Agriculture Station, Nyon, Switzerland, alongside other Artemisia plants from around the world.
