Description
At the Nutrition Research Centre, Mill Hill, London, particular attention is given to the effect of a low protein diet on dogs. By reducing their ration of proteins, Professor Platt has been able to study the effects of malnutrition. One effect of the low protein diet (a diet similar to that of many stray dogs) was that dogs had quite lost their sense of balance and could not stand upright or coordinate their movements. What is even more interesting is that they also became apathetic and listless just as extremely malnourished children often do.
Our photos show a dog (the little one) that received the low protein diet and a dog that received a normal diet.
