Headline Malaria in the WHO African Region 
Description In view of the great need throughout the African Region for an increase in trained national personnel in all aspects of malaria eradication techniques, centres providing for such training in English and French were established by WHO in Lagos, Nigeria, and Lomé, Togo with the cooperation and material assistance of the two governments. The objective of these centres was to provide courses for different levels of professional and auxiliary personnel, both national and international, and facilities for training courses in malaria eradication techniques. Our photos show a training course at the Lagos WHO International Malaria Eradication Training Centre.

Mr Clement Ramsdale, Centre entomologist, during a class on the development and breeding of anopheles larvae. The students attending this course are international WHO staff who will be sent to various projects in Africa at the end of this course.
