Naililili Nursing Station
Description
71-year-old Vaseva gets her monthly check-up at Naililili Nursing Station. Vaseva, a resident of Vunuku Village, goes to the nursing station in two ways, explaining: "I walk for half an hour from my village. Sometimes I get some outboard (boat) for 5 dollars each way."Representatives from Fiji’s Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization (WHO) visits Naililili Nursing Station in Rewa Province, as part of the joint initiative to enhance selected health facilities across the country to become more climate resilient. Entitled Strengthening Health Adaptation Project: Responding to Climate Change in Fiji (SHAPE project), the climate resiliency project is funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).Naililili Nursing Station is one of the selected primary health facilities that will be renovated through the project, including expanding the clinic area, improving accessibility for people with mobility issues, and enhancing access to safe water, sanitation, hygiene and proper waste management. Naililili Nursing Station currently serves over 3,000 people spread across 14 villages. Villagers can access the nursing station by walking or riding a boat through the rivers that surround Naililili.
