Sudan: "Primitive tribal life" by Paul Almasy, 1962
Description
In some parts of the Sudan, life still follows the age-old ancestral patterns. The Dinkas are primarily herdsmen – their cattle is their wealth. They inhabit the eastern part of Bahr El Ghazal province and live in small family groups. The tribesmen wear little or no clothing, but ornamental are appreciated, especially if made of ivory, which they obtain by bartering their cattle. For protection against animals and foods (common in the rainy season) the floor of their huts are raised from the ground.
The Dinkas who live near rivers are very good fishermen.
