Rehabilitation in the WHO Eastern Mediterranean region
Description
This is child's play - but it restores strength to little limbs
During 1956 and the early part of 1957 WHO was giving assistance in Lebanon to a project for the rehabilitation of handicapped children. The aim was to provide a treatment, rehabilitation and training center for children handicapped physically by accident or disease and also to establish a school of physiotherapy. For this purpose, WHO provided a physiotherapist, a prosthetic technician and as short-term consultant (orthopedic surgeon).
Roll the ring and snatch it back. It’s play to little Naim Abd-el-Latif, post-polio patient from Saudi Arabia – but note how his legs are being exercised with every movement.
