Historical collection: People with disabilities
Description
Children’s Orthopaedic Hospital of the Society for the Rehabilitation of Crippled Children, Bombay.
“The measure of a man is judged by what he does with what he has” …The hospital is short of space and short of trained measures. Another drawback is that parents cannot, in most cases, afford harness to help weakened limb recover. What the doctors do is to teach the parents how to look after the children and give them remedial exercises and massage themselves at home. Where polio is concerned parental love alone can achieve little. Parental love and knowledge have in many cases worked wonders."
