Description A WHO Team, Dr Julian de Zulueta, malariologist, and Dr François Lachance entomologist, fought malaria on the banks of the Barma River, 4th Division, Sarawak. They conducted surveys and spraying operations, but also treated the local population for all sorts of other ills and diseases on their inspection trips. Although the Team's medical work was made easily thanks to the population's understanding and cooperation, travelling in those parts was extremely difficult and dangerous because of the rapids that threatened the small boats ('prahus') progress all the way up river. During the night, the WHO team rested in the longhouses, long, single storey dwellings which house up to 700 persons. "Medical Parade" was held before dinner and towards midnight the members of the Kayan and the Kenyah tribes staged parties
