Headline
Vaud, Switzerland: Use of Go.Data in response to COVID-19 - December 2021
Description
Lama T. (centre) makes a phone call to follow up with a contact from her desk at the COVID-19 Contact Tracing Centre for the canton of Vaud in Lausanne, Switzerland on 7 December 2021.
Go.Data is an outbreak investigation tool for field data collection during public health emergencies. The tool includes functionality for case investigation, contact follow-up, visualization of chains of transmission and is designed for flexibility in the field, to adapt to the wide range of outbreak scenarios. Go.Data is the initiative of a group of public health partners and is managed by the Global Outbreak and Response Network (GOARN) coordinated by WHO.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, WHO has supported partners to use Go.Data to collect and analyze case information as part of their COVID-19 response efforts.
In Switzerland, the canton of Vaud used Go.Data from the early day of the pandemic as the basis of its transition from an Excel and paper-based contact tracing system to a largely automatized computer-based system. Health and IT specialists have integrated Go.Data with other applications and added their own advanced functions such as data visualization, cluster detection and processing automation.
