The global humanitarian crisis is unprecedented, with 300 million people needing assistance in 2024, over half requiring emergency health aid. Conflict and persecution forced 110 million people from their homes by mid-2023, with millions seeking refuge. The WHO responded to 65 health emergencies in 2023, aiding 107 million people across 29 countries. Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) are a growing threat, causing 74% of global deaths, especially in Low- and Middle-Income Countries. NCDs also impact displaced populations, worsening their vulnerability. COVID-19 disrupted NCD services and strained health systems. Urgent action is needed to integrate NCD prevention and control into humanitarian responses. 



The WHO Global high-level meeting on NCDs in humanitarian settings aims to strengthen health systems ahead of the fourth High-level Meeting of the United Nations General Assembly (HLM4). It focuses on integrating NCD prevention and control into emergency response plans, fostering discussion, and building political momentum.
