Description MOTHER-MACHINES GUARD THE LIVES OF PREMATURE BABIES.

In the premature baby the lamp of life flickers feebly and its flame must be guarded tirelessly by day and by night. For this unsleeping and vital watchfulness, modern medicine has created “mother-machines” whose work is shown in this special series of photographs taken in the Centre de Recherches biologiques néonatales in Paris whose work is directed by Professor Alexandre Minkowski. Many problems still remain to be solved in the pediatric field and the WHO is preparing a world-wide study with the aim of coordinating research to fill the gaps in medical knowledge.
