Headline
Dengue in Cuba - 2002
Description
A local health worker uses a torch to check for signs of water and mosquito eggs inside tyres in a tyre depot. Automobile tyres are ideal breeding sites for mosquitoes, which lay their eggs in water lying inside the tyre. International trade in tyres has helped dengue mosquito vectors spread into new locations around the globe. If signs are found, alcohol is placed in the tyre and set alight to kill the mosquito egg
