Afghanistan's deadliest earthquake - October 2023
Description
Thanks to the European Commission Humanitarian Aid (ECHO), 92 tonnes of essential supplies, including 20 tonnes of essential health kits from World Health Organization (WHO) arrived in Herat through the EU humanitarian air bridge flight.These kits include essential supplies for interagency emergency health, trauma, surgery, as well as severe acute malnutrition to help the people affected by Herat Earthquakes in Afghanistan.
An estimated 114,000 most affected people are in urgent need of life-saving health assistance following series of earthquakes in western Afghanistan between 7 and 15 October. The WHO-led health sector requires $7.9 million to ensure affected communities will be provided with essential health services in the next six months.
