Nursing in the WHO European region
Description
The nursing education system of the German Federal Republic was a blend of theoretical and practical training, with two years of the former and one year of the latter. In 1968, the Federal Republic had 792 schools of general nursing, 198 schools of paediatric nursing and 368 schools for nurses' auxiliaries. Most of these schools were directly administered by the hospitals with which they are affiliated.
The first two years in the Frankfurt school are spent mainly in the classroom. The practical work begins the third year.
