Tuberculosis in the WHO European region
Description
One doctor for 400 people
Tuberculosis was a great menace, when the new country was born. In 1949, there were 21 cases per 10,000 people. Many immigrants were infected. By 1959, thanks to large-scale measures, including mobile laboratory and X-ray units for the nomads (photo), there were only 4.9 cases per 10,000.
