Description A long-range programme to build up a broad foundation of physical rehabilitation services has been set up by the Government. One of the main goals of the programme was to establish a four-year course for physiotherapists at the University of the Philippines, with the National Orthopaedic Hospital in Manila used for clinical work. A physiotherapist from the World Health Organization was asked to help in the organization of the programme and UNICEF donated supplies. The first group of physiotherapists and occupational therapists will graduate in 1966.

A patient learns how to repair watches. A former patient, Ricardo Cleto, a paraplegic, who is an expert in repairing watches has taught the skill so far to 50 other ex-patients, who have returned to their villages with a new trade.
