Description
World Health Day - From farm to plate: French chef keeps food safe.
World Health Day 2015 is celebrated on 7 April, with WHO highlighting the challenges and opportunities associated with food safety under the slogan "From farm to plate, make food safe."
Jean-Marc Roman is the owner and chef of Le Café du Rhône, a small restaurant located in Valleiry. He follows a longstanding tradition of preparing local products of top quality and freshness – while also adhering to the five keys to safer food recommended by WHO.
Cheese is a big favourite as dessert in France. Roman buys some of the cheese he serves from local farms. Here he selects fresh sheep’s-milk cheese from Jonathan Morard, who runs a sheep farm and produces cheese in the nearby village of Jonzier-Epagny.
