Headline Malaria in the WHO African Region 
Description The government of Ghana, in co-operation with the World Health Organization and UNICEF, launched a malaria pre-eradication programme before starting its anti-malaria campaign. A WHO malariologist and a laboratory technician, working jointly with Ghanaian doctors and technicians and using UNICEF-supplied vehicles and equipment, studied epidemiological, entomological and ecological conditions of the country to obtain basic information on the transmission of the disease and ways to combat it.

Laboratory technicians collect blood specimens from school children in a survey to determine the incidence of malaria in the town of Ho.
