Headline Inauguration of newly renovated WHO headquarters building, 19 May 2025 
Description On 19 May 2025, WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, alongside Swiss Federal Councillor Elisabeth Baume-Schneider, President of the State Council of the Republic and Canton of Geneva Nathalie Fontanet and President of the 78th World Health Assembly Teodoro Herbosa, inaugurated the newly renovated WHO headquarters building, after more than three years of work.

Led by the Swiss Confederation, and with contributions of our host, the Canton of Geneva, and the Foundation for Buildings for International Organizations, the building has been upgraded to meet modern safety, security and environmental requirements, along with a new low-energy, low-maintenance extension.
