KOICA and WHO visit to Fiji CDC
Description
Representatives from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the World Health Organization (WHO) visit the Fiji Centre for Disease Control (CDC) in Suva, Fiji. WHO and KOICA are working closely with the Ministry of Health on a climate resiliency project entitled Strengthening Health Adaptation Project: Responding to Climate Change in Fiji (SHAPE project), including supporting climate-resilient health facilities across the country. Fiji CDC is one of the sites supported by the project, strengthening its capacity for surveillance and diagnosis of climate-sensitive diseases like leptospirosis, typhoid fever, and meningitis as well as establish food and water testing facility to ensure food and water quality and safety.Shalini Singh (left), Fiji CDC's laboratory manager, and Ravneet Kumar (right), KOICA's project manager for the health sector, inside the Fiji CDC national laboratory where they test for diseases like COVID-19, typhoid fever, and influenza.
