Headline
Dengue outbreak response in Tuvalu
Description
Water sampling at Princess Margaret Hospital water system. From the outset of 2023, WHO has been supporting Tuvalu’s Ministry of Health, Social Welfare and Gender Affairs to respond to suspected dengue outbreaks across the country. Since January, a variety of ongoing public health activities have been undertaken to support the dengue response. At the community level, there have been ongoing health awareness sessions, inspections and cleanups around the premises of confirmed cases, mosquito net distributions, and active case finding. In collaboration with the MoH, medical teams have undertaken entomological investigations, conducted larvicide control activities, implemented surveillance in the outer islands and provided support for clinical management of cases across the country.
