Headline
South Africa: Use of Go.Data in response to COVID-19 - November 2021
Description
WHO Epidemiologist Mpho Pitso uses Go.Data on her laptop at the Metsimaholo COVID-19 Call Centre in Sasolburg, South Africa.
Go.Data is an outbreak investigation tool for field data collection during public health emergencies. The tool includes functionality for case investigation, contact follow-up, visualization of chains of transmission including secure data exchange and is designed for flexibility in the field, to adapt to the wide range of outbreak scenarios. Go.Data is the initiative of a group of public health partners and is managed by the Global Outbreak and Response Network (GOARN) coordinated by WHO.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, WHO and GOARN have supported partners to use Go.Data to collect and analyze case information as part of their COVID-19 response efforts. In Free State, South Africa, COVID-19 public health response teams replaced a largely paper-based system with Go.Data for case information management and analysis, making the work of contact tracers and outbreak response decision makers more efficient and effective.
