Description
Joanna reading a newspaper with her stand magnifier.
Through Joanna’s assessment she selected a stand magnifier. Joanna and her service provider then trialed different levels of magnification. She could read newsprint with a magnification power of 3x, however it was difficult. She tried a magnification power of 4x and found that she could read much more comfortably. She selected a stand magnifier with magnification power of 4x.
After selecting a magnifier or telescope, it is important to teach the person how to use it.
Talk with the person about where they will be using their magnifier, and help them to make the best use of light when using their product.
Good light is very important.
Tips for making the best use of a lamp:
Position the lamp so that light shines on the task from behind and slightly to the side.
