Headline Tuberculosis in the WHO region of the Americas 
Description Guayaquil, commercial capital of Ecuador, waged a scientific fight against an age-old scourge of man - tuberculosis. Two UN agencies were cooperating with Ecuador's medical authorities in this attack on TB. WHO sent specialists to train local experts and UNICEF supplied laboratory and hospital equipment.
