Headline Construction of WHO headquarters building - 1960 to 1964 
Description The WHO headquarters, just outside of Geneva, was built from 1962 to 1966. Jean Tschumi (1904-1962) of Lausanne, Switzerland, was the architect of the building. It is a concrete structure of 150 metres long, 20 metres wide, and 34 metres high supported by 22 columns.

WHO's Headquarters building will be 150 metres long, 20 metres wide, and 34 metres high. There will be seven floors of offices and  eighth-floor restaurant commanding a fine view of Geneva and its lake. A semi-detached Council Hall will adjoin the main building. It is planned to use raw concrete, pumiced or sanded, and the facades will be of the "curtain wall" type, made of aluminium. It is expected that the building will be finished in the Spring of 1965.
