Arrival of burn kits and medical supply from WHO Dubai hub
Description
With the generous support of the European Union (EU), the World Health Organization (WHO) emergency supplies arrived at Beirut international airport.Kits received from WHO warehouse in DUBAI should cater for 250 burn cases and 3000 injuries. Kits will be delivered to the 4 hospitals treating burn victims from the Akkar explosion which was a result of fuel tank explosion in the north of Lebanon which resulted in over 30 fatalities and more than 80 injured (burn cases). The patients were sent to several hospitals mainly the Salam and Geitaoui hospitals that have burn units. Some nine patients were taken by plane to Turkey, UAE and Kuwait for treatment."We are passing through very challenging times and we stand united in providing support to the victims of this tragic event," said Dr Iman Shankiti, WHO representative in Lebanon (right).-Title of WHO staff and officials reflects their respective position at the time the photo was taken.
